We’ve been proud to source coffee from Santo Domingo Teojomulco in Sierra Sur, Oaxaca since 2021, through our importing partner Osito. This year’s lot comes from 13 of the 30 farming families led by Señor Hildilberto Roman.
Sierra Sur is one of Mexico’s most remote coffee-growing regions — many residents speak Zapoteco and Mixteco, and the challenges of distance and language make coffee from this area rare. Still, thanks to the dedication of the producers, Osito, and exporter UNTAO, these incredible coffees are reaching specialty markets around the world.
UNTAO, known for working with standout Oaxacan coffees (like those from Union San Pedro), first connected Teojomulco’s producers with Osito in 2020. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of working with them every year. Many producers have also trained with Enrique López Aguilar of Finca Chelín—one of Mexico’s most innovative farms—raising their coffee quality even higher.
The result? A warm, clean, and beautifully sweet cup that perfectly captures the spirit of Oaxacan washed coffee. We’re honored to keep sharing this unique and hardworking community’s coffee with you.
